Claims Adjuster II – Construction Claims (Bodily Injury & Property)

This role is responsible for investigating and resolving claims of lower to medium complexity and exposure. The claims will involve both non-litigated and litigated matters. Working under general supervision, the position will handle a full caseload independently and make well-reasoned decisions within delegated authority. The role requires adherence to Fair Claims Practices regulations across various states. Travel requirements are minimal.
Key Responsibilities
  • Reviews coverage and communicates coverage decisions.
  • Leads, coordinates, and directs investigations into loss details and damage assessments.
  • Confirms claim coverage by analyzing policies and supporting documentation.
  • Prepares coverage position letters.
  • Assesses coverage, liability, and damages to determine the insured's exposure level.
  • Manages claims across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Oversees litigated and non-litigated property damage claims up to $250,000.
  • Handles non-litigated bodily injury claims valued up to $250,000 across various jurisdictions.
  • Manages smaller product liability or construction defect claims.
  • Identifies cases that should be referred to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU).
  • Assists in special projects or provides support to team members as needed.
  • Delivers excellent customer service to insured clients while maintaining high productivity levels.
  • Represents the company in mediations, when necessary.
  • Sets reserves within authority limits or recommends adjustments to the manager.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
Certification
  • Possession of an adjuster’s or legal license in at least one jurisdiction.
Experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of claims handling or related professional experience.
Skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Committed to ongoing professional development.
